Dog parks are becoming more popular among dog owners. They are great excercise for your pet as well as great socialization. However, please keep in mind a few safety tips to make the experience more enjoyable for your pet.

  •  Flea & Tick Control: Regular prevention is very important, but  more so in grassy areas, such as parks.

  •  Chemically Treated Areas: Pesticides and fertilizers are used at most parks, so please be aware. Wash your dog's paws, legs and belly with soap and water when returning home.

  •  Hydration: Make sure you always have plenty of water available for your dog. Take water breaks frequently. If your dog shows any signs of excessive panting, vomiting or is lethargic please contact us immediately.

  • Parasites: By picking up your dogs feces, you decrease the risk of internal parasites being spread to other dogs.If your dog frequents dog parks it is highly recommended that your pet be regularly dewormed.

  • Updated Vaccines: If your dog is a regular at off-leash parks, then make certain that vaccines are current. Dhlpp, Rabies, Kennel Cough, & CIV should be current. Each of these vaccines are important to protect your dog from disease. Kennel Cough & CIV can be transmitted from other dogs. If your dog isn't up to date on any of these vaccines, then hold off attending these parks until you visit your veterinarian.
